Updated Rescan Instructions:

Each device manufacturer is different so menu names and operations will likely be unique to that device. This is only a general guide and may not work for all devices.

Step one look for a “Menu” button on the remote. Use the right, left up and down arrow keys to drive the menu selections. Use the OK, center button or “Enter” button to make your choices.

Step two each device may have a different name for it, so look for keywords such as “Channel”, “input setup”, “Auto Setup”, “Initial setup” or “Program setup”.

If there is a selection choice of input type, choose “Air” or it is sometimes called “ANT” or “Antenna”. Do not select “Cable”, “SAT” (Satellite) or “QAM”.

If step two does not offer an auto-setup choice but has a “Channel” selection instead, there will be a submenu with keywords like “Auto Program Search”, “Program Scan”, “Auto Scan” or perhaps “Channel Search”. If it is an option, please do not use the selection “Add Channel Scan” unless that is the only available choice.

If you have the option, it will save a bit of time if there is a choice for “Digital only”, but some devices will only give a combo Analog/Digital option. If that is the case please select it.

You may have to then select “Start”, “Begin Scan”, “Select” or “Go” to start the scan process. A status bar or percent complete indicator may show up.

Once the scan is finished, if it does not automatically bring you back to TV viewing, you may have to choose the button that may read “OK”, “Done”, “Select”, or perhaps “Enter”. If that still does not bring you back to TV viewing, you may have to press the “Menu” button on the remote one or more times to return to normal viewing of TV mode. Then use the channel up/down on the remote to verify that you can see 24.1 and 24.2 as a viewing choice.

KNVN NBC 24 April 1st

Northern California – Station KNVN NBC 24 announced today that it is moving frequencies on April 1st at 1 a.m. and viewers who watch TV for free with an over the air antenna must rescan their TVs to continue watching the station. Rescanning is when a TV finds all of the available channels in an area.

Viewers do not need to purchase new equipment or services, and those who watch KNVN NBC 24 through a cable or satellite service do not need to rescan – your service provider will do it for you.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held an auction of broadcast airwaves to provide more channels for wireless internet broadband services. As a result, the FCC is requiring this station and nearly 1,000 others nationwide to move to new frequencies to make room for wireless internet services. In addition to KNVN NBC 24, there will be other stations that will move frequencies over the following years.

The virtual channels will remain the same:

24.1

24.2

TV stations must move frequencies at different times as required by the FCC. This means viewers who use an antenna may have to rescan their TV sets more than once.

To rescan on April 1st, select "scan" or "autotune" on the TV or converter box control menu to start the scanning process. Instructions are usually available by pressing the "set-up" or "menu" buttons on the remote control. This move is happening behind the scenes, so the channel number viewers know will not change.

Plan to rescan and stay tuned to KNVN NBC 24 for more information, or visit our website at www.actionnewsnow.com Additionally, TVAnswers.org, a viewer resource provided by the National Association of Broadcasters, features the latest news and information on station changes nationwide. At TVAnswers.org, viewers can also sign up for mobile alerts and email updates to stay up-to-date on TV station changes.

Viewers can also call the Federal Communication Commission's consumer hotline at 1-888-CALLFCC (1-888-225-5322) and press "6" to speak to a help desk representative. The call center is staffed from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern time, seven days a week.
