The Red Flag Warning expired at 5pm today as winds calmed down throughout the evening. Humidity levels were sitting in the teens to low 20s this afternoon. The windy conditions ushered in a very pleasant air mass with temperatures today struggling to reach the mid-80s for all in the valley.

A very comfortable night is in store with lows dipping into the low 50s for parts of the valley with other places reaching the mid-50s. With this weather, open the windows and let the fresh air flow in! There is a freeze warning in Modoc County beginning at 2am and lasting through 8am on Friday. This is for sub freezing conditions in the high desert. Highs the next several days will remain very comfortable. Most places in the valley on Friday will top off in the low to mid-80s! The 80s will continue through the weekend with plenty of sunshine Saturday. Saturday is also the first full day of Astronomical Fall, meaning no part of the planet is directly pointed at the sun, giving us the Fall Equinox. The pattern starts to change Sunday. A few clouds approach the area with some moisture lingering offshore Sunday evening. So far the rain doesn't look to reach beyond the coastal mountains. The best chances for rain arrives Monday as a cold front passes through. There is disagreement on the timing of the rain, and how the amount of rain. So far the highest rain amounts will be in the north valley and coastal mountains. Some models suggest Redding could reach 1 inch of rain while the mid0-valley could see up to a quarter to half inch of rain. For now I am sticking with lower rain totals with the north valley still receiving close to an inch of rain while the mid-valley reaches a quarter of an inch. As we get closer the details will be ironed out a little better! The rain chances continue on Tuesday but not to the extent of Monday. highs during this time could be in the mid to upper 70s.
